The consumption of polycarbonate in China hit 1.8 million tons

as one of the world's famous polymer manufacturers, Bayer materials technology company established a polymer R & D center in Shanghai as early as 2001, and put into operation a polycarbonate plant with an annual output of 100000 tons/year and four other polycarbonate graded blending material plants in the Shanghai integrated base, providing strong technical support for the production line. In addition, Diren chemical company invested 900million yen (US $8.3 million) to build a new device in its polycarbonate blending plant in Shanghai, which was completed and put into operation in 2009. After the completion of this expansion, the plant has become a world-class polycarbonate blending plant. In the future, new (expanded) polycarbonate plants with domestic and foreign investment will be built and put into operation in China. Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co., Ltd. will build a new 80000 T/a polycarbonate production capacity in Shanghai Caojing Chemical Industrial Zone, which will be completed and put into operation at the end of 2013. The total investment of the polycarbonate resin joint project is about 30billion yen. The 260000 T/a polycarbonate project signed by Sinopec and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (saber) is expected to be put into operation in 2015. This project is a new cooperation content between SINOPEC and saber in the existing 1million T/a ethylene joint venture project in Tianjin. It adopts the world's most advanced non phosgene production process, with a total investment of about 11billion yuan and a 50% to 50% share ratio

the project will produce four categories of polycarbonate, including mixing grade, extrusion grade, optical grade and injection grade. Bayer materials technology company announced in 2010 that it plans to more than double its polycarbonate production capacity in Caojing, Shanghai by 2016, to reach 500000 tons/year. Bayer materials technology company will also greatly enhance its research and development capacity in Caojing, and move its polycarbonate business department from Leverkusen, Germany to Shanghai, which will make its business closer to the rapidly developing Asian polycarbonate market. In addition, Bayer Material Technology Company's polycarbonate single-layer board located in Yonghe Economic Zone of Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone provides car owners with a super luxurious touch. The factory has been built in October 2011, and the design production capacity of 12000 tons/year has been put into operation this year. By 2015, the total polycarbonate production capacity of this factory will double to 24000 tons/year. The 10000 ton/year PC device of Kaifeng Xinghua Fine Chemical plant will also be put into operation in the next two years. During the "12th Five Year Plan" period, China will become the main battlefield for polycarbonate. It is expected that by the end of 2015, China's polycarbonate production capacity will reach more than 1.114 million tons/year. At that time, the domestic annual demand will be 1.7 ~ 2 million tons, and the self-sufficiency rate can reach 50% - 60%. This will change the long-term dependence on imports of polycarbonate in China, and greatly promote the development of engineering plastics in China

Coupled with the continuous implementation of the policies of restricting the purchase of commercial housing and automobiles, the domestic consumption of polycarbonate in 2012 was 1.166 million tons, and the demand growth rate was 3% - 4%, a slight rebound from 2011
